Mum and Baby workouts – the magic of baby sleep!

I don’t know about you but when my little one sleeps I do a silent dance of joy, quickly find the kettle, make a brew and sit down and ignore all the chores for a little while. Don’t get me wrong, I love my baby and enjoy spending time with him but just a moment of silence in the day is wonderful.

There are all these experts that give us tips and tricks on how to get babies to sleep but let’s face it, we all know that the best way to get a baby to sleep is the car – movement seems to be king. Well I know this is going to sound crazy but there is a better way that saves you petrol and gets you a workout in too.  Yes, I said it, and no, this isn’t going to turn into one of those ‘mummy must do blogs’, just a helpful hint on keeping yourself happy and healthy.


Every week we go to Sweaty Mama classes for a great mum and baby workout. My son is completely fascinated by the exercise movements, music and all these people dancing around him. I guess it must be weird for him as sadly people don’t break out into dance in everyday life but he loves it. I get the best mum and baby workout whilst getting in some baby bonding too. As the class goes on you can see babies dropping like flies (I mean not literally they just fall asleep). It’s funny all the new mums that come every week are really surprised as their baby slowly drops to sleep until they are in that deep sleep we all love where you could drive a tank next to them and they wouldn’t know!

This is how you get your baby to sleep without fail. Do your Sweaty Mama workout class with your baby and then if they haven’t fallen asleep before it finishes they will in the car on the way home and then you can gently lift the car seat out, bring it in to the house and plonk yourself on the sofa for 5 minutes whilst they sleep. After all, with all those fun mum and baby workouts you deserve it!


Now this could all sound madness but trust me, if you don’t already come to a Sweaty Mama mum and baby workout class then try it and see. You will get a fun workout, rebuild your fitness, get support from other mums and get the baby to sleep – what more could you ask for from one class?
